Instead of my usual Sale Alert
post, I decided to spice things up by inviting some of my favorite Dallas designers and bloggers to choose a rug
from the sale items and describe why they like it or how they would use it in a room. These four ladies have a seriously refined eye for design, so check out their picks below! Or browse the rugs for yourself
and tell us what suits your tastes in the comments.
Beth Dotolo, Nest Design Blog and Hello Splendor
The Chaumont Black rug
can cleverly accent a modern interior, giving it an eclectic look. It’s colorful and contrasting enough to match the current trends, but is classic enough to endure the changing decor fads. I just love a strong pattern!
Alana Villanueva, Dallas Decorum
I would choose the Sufinoor Beige rug for a client who has dark stained wood floors to lighten the space up; it would be great in a master bedroom because of the softness of the colors as well. I also love how the pattern is very open and somewhat geometric.
I love the Charentes Aqua Rug
. This rug would be a beautiful back drop to a soft color palette for a casual Living Room. Complete the color scheme with fresh whites or a butter yellow and coral combination for a gorgeous room.
To be honest, rugs intimidate me. They’re such an important part of the design process, but when you try to make them fit into your existing design, as I have done in the past, it’s completely overwhelming (and often unsucessful). After years of cheap and boring sea grass rugs, I’ve learned that a good floor covering is the best place to start when designing a room.
Pierre Deux’s Fleur de Dentelle Rug
in Wheat/Brown would instantly graduate me to grown-up status. When I saw this rug, I was drawn to its simplicity. Yet, the detailed flowers, inspired by 17th century French handmade lace, bring it to life. This rug would find a home in my dining room, anchoring a large modern farmhouse table and a set of french metal cafe chairs (neither of which I already own). Add mustard yellow throw pillows, some modern prints in large baroque gold frames, and perhaps a small splash of turquoise pottery. I feel more mature already!
Thank you Beth, Alana, Erin and Katie for sharing your insight and expertise! Don’t forget, all lighting
is on sale too!
