How To Make Over Your Guy's Man Cave

There's likely a space in your home that your guy has claimed as his own. Since you aren't allowed to enter it often (if at all), his space has likely become a little outdated. Though we recently posted about creating your own lady lair, this round we're focusing on the gents. Here are a few tips on how to upgrade your guy's man cave with help from the Dallas Design District showrooms.

Luxury Seating

Ditch that old recliner and opt instead for something comfortable yet stylish. Baker Furniture has a generous selection of sleek upholstered looks perfect for your guys space. Look for a piece that's lounge-worthy but doesn't scream "college bachelor pad" or "Grandpa's living room." Your man deserves a chair or sofa with classic construction and innovative design.

Bar Service

No man cave is complete without a bar, whether it's a bar cart or a decked out bar top. Visit McGannon Showroom to find the former option, complete with the basic tools of the trade. If you have more room, why not wow him with a bar top that includes stool seating? Ann Sacks can help you with a custom design.

Animal Rug

Help him show his rugged side by picking up a hair or hide rug at Holland & Sherry off North Stemmons Freeway. You'll find a vast selection of floor coverings, ranging from handwoven or handknotted to leather, flatweave or shag.

Pizza Oven

Go big or go home, right? Guys night in means pizza, and what's better than a wood- or gas-fired pie? Butter of Dallas has you covered. Even if he isn't into pizza, the dome-shaped adobe oven can cook anything from nachos to chicken breasts. The flavor from the high-heat stone cooking method is incomparable.

Epic Artwork

Remind him of home, sweet home, with one of the stunning Dallas skyline photos at Crawshay Gallery off Dragon Street. The images feature the Reunion Tower, Fountain Place, Renaissance Tower and the Bank of America Plaza and are rich with detail. Don't know how to light a gorgeous photograph like this? No worries. The combination of the metallic-based paper and face-mounting process enhances the colors and gives the illusion the piece is self-lit.

Gone are the days of beer pong and neon signs in the man cave. His space should move forward with the times and become a welcome refuge for your guy after a long day. Plus, having his own room that's thoughtfully updated will help him stay out of your lady lair! We all need a little me time, after all.
