Dallas Design District: What do you love about being in the DDD?
ID Collection: The Dallas Design Center (DDC) is the heartbeat of the Design District, which allows ID Collection the opportunity to present Osborne & Little, JAB, Casamance, R. Jones, Panache Designs, Powell & Bonnell and many other prestigious lines of fabric and furniture.
DDD: How would you describe ID Collection’s showroom style?
IDC: Our style is as diverse as we are. Our brands are extremely diversified, offering designers many avenues for success.
IDC: We go above and beyond to assist designers with every aspect of their projects. We build relationships and therefore loyalty through trust and hard work. We get to know our customers and we listen when they tell us about what they can and will use.
DDD: In your opinion, what is a room’s most essential design element?
IDC: The attitude!
DDD: What is the first question you ask a new client?
IDC: We ask the designers what their clients are looking for, and how we can help them achieve the dream. We understand that the end-user now plays a key role in the design process, too. We remain flexible and aim to be innovative in the ways we approach our clients.
DDD: Tell us about your favorite home décor trends for spring.
JD: Enough with the beige and gray! It’s spring: experience the beautiful color of nature!
DDD: Are there any home furnishing and/or décor trends you feel are on the way out and would therefore recommend clients avoid?
IDC: We understand the old saying “Everything that’s old is new again,” and that a whole generation has never experienced shag carpet, avocado green, and brown. However… don’t!
DDD: Who, what and/or where do you draw inspiration from?
IDC: First and foremost, we draw inspiration from the products we represent. With creative minds like Christian Lacroix, William Yeoward and Jean Paul Gaultier represented in our showrooms, we’re lucky to have inspiration all around us.
DDD: Do you have a personal design philosophy or motto?
IDC: “Sell the sizzle, not the steak.”
DDD: Finish this sentence: “No home is complete without…”
IDC: A personality! A home should reflect the people who live there!
